Ahead of its 10th anniversary, ThinkOcean Society unveils a new logo and website with the return to a chapter-based model. Founder Ben May is also stepping back in as President, supporting a youth-led team led by Executive Director Ariane Lemaire.
Over the last nine years, ThinkOcean has engaged more than 10,000 young people in 20 countries with nearly 100 chapters. Its members have led hundreds of localized projects, including mangrove restoration, pollution cleanup, environmental art, and advocacy efforts alongside global outreach campaigns. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ThinkOcean pivoted in 2021 to allow continued participation but is excited to once again embrace locally-led chapters.
A New Coral Logo
Today, ThinkOcean carries the same mission but transforms to reflect the vibrant future ahead. Corals represent the dynamic and interactive work conducted by its international members, who have impacted communities and ecosystems across the world.
“I wanted our new logo to reflect ThinkOcean’s youth led approach to conservation, and what better way to do that than with coral,” remarked Richard Genet, Social Media Director. “I aimed to keep the new logo bright and colorful, just like the future of ocean conservation.”
A Continued Home for Youth Empowerment
ThinkOcean Society’s new website serves as a home for engagement and learning. Toolkits, resources, and previous project profiles are available to inspire and uplift ocean conservation wherever you are.
“Our team has poured themselves into each detail of our new platform while designing spectacular upcoming programming,” said Ariane Lemaire, Executive Director of ThinkOcean. “I cannot wait for you to see more of their work and come together to preserve our seas.”
A Return to Chapters
This launch accompanies ThinkOcean’s renewed chapter-based model, giving members improved structure and support to take action in their local communities with consistent in-person engagement.
“ThinkOcean has continuously evolved over the years, but we have always maintained the same core mission of mobilizing young people to protect our blue planet,” said Ben May, Founder and President. “After years as an advisor, I’m excited to take a more active role in supporting our team. I couldn’t be more proud of this new executive team for taking up our important mantle and shaping ThinkOcean’s next chapter.”
“It has been a pleasure to watch ThinkOcean grow over the past decade and run impactful projects in four continents! I am excited to continue to inspire with ThinkOcean and work towards building a positive future led by youth from around the globe,” said Adam Wolpert, Chief Financial Officer.
Get Involved!
ThinkOcean invites you to volunteer, apply to start a chapter, or support youth action by donating. Its impact has only been possible through the dedication of almost a decade’s rising stars in ocean conservation who safeguarded the environment by participating in chapters or leading the global team.
The people of ThinkOcean extend sincere gratitude to all who empowered its mission, and greetings to newcomers! The organization will continue to advocate for our Earth and the life emerging from its waters.
